چکیده

Course scheduling problems consist of scheduling a certain number of resources, such as classes, teachers, courses and the classrooms to a number of time-slots on a daily basis. The feasible combinations for these resources are the ones that avoid the connicts between the teachers, classes, rooms and other speciied requirements. Models formulated for scheduling problems are also case-sensitive and generally quite diierent from each other. Therefore, to establish the common features of the course scheduling problems is crucial. This paper presents a general view of course scheduling problems, formulate a high-school course scheduling problem which includes the common elements and the features of most of the course scheduling problems.

The Application of Genetic Algorithm Based on Multi-dimension Code Scheme on Course Scheduling In Adult Education

In this paper, Genetic Algorithm(GA)is applied to Course Scheduling, designed to arrange and optimize the Timetable in Adult Education. Designed an automatic curriculum scheduling system based on this multi-dimension coding scheme. Finally, real course data is used to test this multi-dimension coding scheme and the result is satisfying in the way of the time complexity and curriculum scheduling...

Belief Evolution of Intelligent Agent

This paper examines the Argumentation Negotiation of agent as a mechanism for solving the course-scheduling problem. We integrated multi-agent automatic negotiation mechanism and argumentation reasoning to apply in course scheduling problem. We want to evolve the belief of the agents by argumentation-based negotiation, so that agents can have more information of the environment, and select bett...

Finding a feasible course schedule using Tabu search

Hertz, A., Finding a feasible course schedule using Tabu search, Discrete Applied Mathematics 35 (1992) 255-270. We consider a course scheduling problem in which the total number of time periods assigned to each topic has to be split into daily amounts of consecutive time periods called daily quantums. These daily quantums may be arbitrary but are bounded by given minimal and maximal values. In...

Course scheduling and academic performance

This paper examines the relationship between course scheduling and student achievement, controlling for student and course characteristics. The literature in psychology recognizes that performance varies by time of day and that spacing learning out over time may foster greater long-term memory of items. We use student grades as a measure of performance and find a small, positive time of day eff...

Multi-Agent System for University Course Timetable Scheduling

Many real-world applications are mapped into combinatorial problems. An example of such problem is timetable scheduling. In this case, the two basic characteristics can be defined by its distributed and dynamic environment. One efficient solution could be provided by an agent-based approach. A timetable scheduling problem can be modelled as a multi-agent system that provides the final schedule ...
